The Shepherd and His Sheep

This week we will be discussing the Shepherd and his sheep. Just a warning: this blog might offend some people, but it’s meant to be encouraging. I hope you will read it with grace knowing that I’m not the final authority on the Bible and I’m just sharing what I’ve found.

Jesus called himself the good shepherd when he was on earth and commissioned Peter to feed his sheep before he ascended to Heaven.

Let’s begin by looking at some scripture that makes reference to believers being sheep.

The Creator and His Creation

This week we will be discussing our relation to God as his creation. This is a tough one because I’ve only been on the human side of creation. Anything we create comes from the materials that God already made. It’s impossible for me to create something out of nothing, so it’s hard for me to put myself in God’s shoes. Therefore, I will do my best to explain creation from our point of view instead.

Let’s begin by looking at some scripture that can help us understand creation.

Servants and Friends

This is part 3 of our relationship series. It’s funny, initially I placed servants and friends together to cover more ground in this blog, so that this series wouldn’t drag on forever. Then the more I studied friendship and servanthood regarding God and the Bible, the more I realized that they intertwine. The scriptures that I want to discuss in this blog are John 15 and James 2. I will pull from other parts of the Bible as well, but this is where the largest part of my study took place. Once again, I highly recommend reading these chapters for yourself and asking God to reveal the truth to you on a personal level.

Alright, let’s take a look at the scripture. We will start with the words of Jesus.
