Psalm 4:12 (NLT)- "Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom."
Do something you've always wanted to do, but haven't been willing to take the risk.
One of my friends recently passed away suddenly. He and his girlfriend were killed by a drunk driver on their way to the airport. She was going to Europe to study abroad and he was seeing her off. My friend’s name is Luis. We only hung out a couple of times, but spent a lot of the time deep in conversation. Luis was a guy who I clicked with easily, and from seeing how many people responded to his death, he must have got along with everyone he met.
Though we only met briefly, five years ago, we still watched each other's lives unfold via social media. Luis was a person who lived a life of adventure and did things that always made me say: “I wish I would suck it up and go do that.” Whether it was camping in dense forests, creating art, or pursuing his dreams through college; I would always watch from afar thinking his life looked cool.
When I heard the news of his passing I realized he was living in the Dallas area. That is only a three hour drive from my house. Had I paid attention, I probably would have noticed and tried to connect when we were in the area. Regardless, it's really sad when someone dies. Even more when it's someone who is inspiring others to live life to the fullest. You could tell that he was spending his days being intentional and actually living life. Not just clocking in and out like a zombie. It was refreshing.
The challenge this week is simple. Do something you have been putting off. Be brave. If you are single and you've had a crush on someone forever. Tell them how you feel. If you have wanted to hike the trail by your house or join a gym. Go do it this week. If you have been wanting to share the gospel with someone, but haven't had the guts to do it. Be a Christian, embrace boldness, and tell them that God wants them to come to Heaven.
Don't wait for the perfect time, because it might never come.
